Agreement approved for land sale

The Saline City Council approved an agreement selling almost 4 acres at 207 Monroe Street for a condo development.
The sale price is $200,000 and the city will move certain power lines to open up the area for building. Damian Farrel intends to build 24 homes on the site.
Council member Linda TerHaar was enthusiastic about the sale, and especially the buyer. “Mr. Farrel has been reaching out to the neighbors and turning opposition into support,” she commented, referring to a campaign by residents of Mark Hannah Court angry at the proposed sale of the property without giving them a chance to expand their back yards instead.
Mayor Pro Tem David Rhoads was also pleased at the sale. “This will allow another 24 families to live in our community, and live close to the downtown, so they won’t need a vehicle to visit the downtown.”
“Our approach to 207 Monroe St. is indicative of how thoughtful we are as a city,” commented Mayor Brian Marl.”We vetted the proposals. We worked for many weeks to draft a purchase agreement that is a compromise between dueling interests.”
“I’m really proud that today this parcel will be added again to the tax rolls.”
