Ally Meyer
By Saline Eagle Staff

Allison E. Meyer (Ally) is a 17-year-old senior enrolled at the Saline Alternative High School. Although Ally is an extremely competent and exceptional student, she found that a traditional school was not meeting her needs. Feeling that a more intimate setting and a closer relationship with the staff would be of benefit, Ally decided to enroll at the Alternative School in 2013. This has proven to be a wise choice. She is currently taking Anatomy and Physiology, American Sign Language, and Expository Reading & Writing online through the school. She has taken on a leadership role and is a strong promoter of the Alternative School. She has also been able to find focus toward her future.
With a GPA of 3.68, Ally is able to not only take the classes required, but to also participate in dual enrollment. She is currently enrolled at Washtenaw Community College in a basic statistics class as well as a psychology class. Her goal for the future is to become a pediatric or psychiatric nurse. She favors her psychology class as she is able to study human life development.
Ally contributes time to schedule outings and mentor younger students. She is involved at Habitat ReStore, Food Gatherers, Ozone House and the Evangelical Home as well as the Foundation for Saline Area Schools. She is an inspirational example and continually pursues her goals, provides advocacy for the school and seeks personal improvement. She exemplifies the meaning of the school motto, quoted from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., “The time is always right to do what is right.”
